Why me? Why this? Why now?

WHY ME?

I am Jess Carins- a mum of 2 adventurous boys, wife, director of 4 companies and small business owner, registered nurse and an advocate for personal growth, mindfulness, mindset and wellbeing. 12 years of study in the personal development space combined with working as a registered nurse in a range of settings has empowered me to become a voice in the mindfulness and mindset movement by motivating and inspiring individuals to step out of dissatisfaction, stress and feelings of being ‘stuck’ to discover and live their purpose.

As someone who has been through my own struggles with anxiety and depression, trauma, lived the ‘juggle’ between a small business owner and mum, I have found mindfulness and shifting your mindset profound and life changing tools in my journey of self-discovery and empowerment. I was stuck in a ‘victim mentality’ for a really long time but once I identified this and switched my mindset, many amazing moments began occurring and I started to manifest positive changes. In today’s fast paced world, it is easy to step into overwhelm. My teachings focus on cultivating techniques in everyday life, identifying and removing limiting beliefs and self doubt as well as developing the skills of self-compassion, gratitude and acceptance. We learn how to move from “mind full to mindful.”

I feel very ‘called’ to step into this in a professional space and looking forward to helping people in an area I am passionate about. I would consider myself a natural born leader, facilitator and coach- having gravitated to these type of roles in other areas of my life. One of my passions during my teenage years was netball and more specifically I loved ‘coaching’ as opposed to playing. The pure delight of seeing kids achieve their goals (many reaching state and national level) really filled my cup. These innate skills are something I am very grateful for.

For as long as I can remember I have been drawn to the personal development section of bookstores and found anyone and everyone will open up to me about their personal struggles, whether that be in a professional context or in everyday life. I take a holistic view, an integration of mind, body and soul and aim to provide multidimensional support. I work with existing healthcare and treatment providers using an integrative approach.

My biggest passion is in mind/body medicine, with peer reviewed research suggesting chronic stress is a massive risk factor if not the cause of many health conditions and disease. I like to look at disease as dis-ease in a metaphor for its meaning. My belief from personal experience but also observationally over the course of my health professional journey is that there is a direct correlation between stress, supressed emotions or trauma and its manifestation as physical disease.

“The answers are within you, sometimes you just need a little help to find them.”

WHY THIS?

This is a very good question! I knew from a very young age I was destined for a career in the health industry and more specifically holistic health. After many different courses of study, many personal challenges and a degree in Registered Nursing it wasn’t until 2021 that the penny really dropped for me and it was like all of a sudden I understood “life”, the way energy worked and that my results were a direct manifestation of my inner thoughts and emotions.

My husband and I began working with a mentor Rachel Downie, who was recommended to us by a lovely friend. This was a time in my life where I had just come off the back of severe post-natal depression, was physically not at my best and felt disempowered, directionless and stuck. We embarked on what we thought was a 6 month business coaching course but little did we know it was more than we could have ever imagined. Thinking into Results is a program based around American Bob Proctors teachings and its impact on us both as been profound. He suggests “you are the only problem you will ever have and you are the only solution. Change is inevitable, personal growth is always a personal decision. Faith and fear both demand you to believe in something you cannot see.”

This solved almost all of my personal demons, I developed a new perspective of the world and allowed me to trust and feel my own personal power. This information does have a spiritual component (which I am very drawn to) but it is also very scientific. My husband is very science minded and was able to really resonate with the law of attraction and the law of vibration. I have had many different mentors over the course of my personal development journey which I am grateful for all of them and the lessons they have been able to support me with. We still work with Rachel on a regular basis and I credit her belief in me and support for the launch of ‘Mindset and Me’.

I feel like our society has evolved for many reasons to look for a ‘quick fix’ or a ‘band aid’ approach in particular with our health and emotional state and lay so much responsibility for it on external sources. We often look for the easier route in order to achieve fast results. I want to help people realise the power that is in side of them and empower them to create positive change in all areas of their life. By using a range of tools and techniques, specifically tailored to the individuals needs and desired outcomes we aim for long lasting benefit.

I also feel a lot of people are unhappy and dissatisfied but can’t seem to identify why or what they actually do want and also perhaps cant acknowledge the relationship with stress to their physical state. Sometimes the ‘root cause’ is so obvious its right in front of our eyes but sometimes it’s a subconscious limiting belief from generations ago.

As the Mindset and Me brand purpose suggests to truly create empowerment, healing and clarity we need an integration of mind, body and soul. With personal experience, observations in healthcare, evidence based research and my knowledge in different modalities if we look at one area in isolation it’s is like burning a candle without the wick. The mind is the flame, representing consciousness and awareness. The body is the wax and wick, providing the vessel and support of the flame. And the soul is the radiant light that emanates from the flame, representing our inner essence and spirituality. Just as the candle requires all three to shine brightly, the mind, body and soul work together to illuminate our existence.

I want everyone to understand his phenomena and experience the world through different eyes and that’s why this.

WHY NOW?

I can sense people have lost their way a little over the last 4 years in particular. With a global pandemic, an unstable economy, government mistrust and a rise in human consciousness people seem to be crying out for this type of support which is a facilitation of client’s own inner power and wisdom. Mindset and Me is being born at a time of increasing uncertainty and strain on humanity and I feel this integrative support will be a way of the future.

I have never experienced quite like what I have in the past year. Despite completing many ‘courses’ in meditation teaching and holistic counselling, mindfulness facilitation, nutrition etc I had never felt ready or had the urge to begin practicing in a professional context until now. I can only describe it as a big mountain pushing me from behind and whenever I experience imposter syndrome or self-doubt creeping in, I seem to get another ‘push’ in this direction.

Biggest love to my family for supporting me over the course of the last year completing my globally certified mindset coaching certification through the Mindset Coach Academy but also for giving me the confidence and belief to step into this next stage of my life. I will be opening my bookings from September in person in Launceston and Bridport and also virtually via Zoom. Stay tuned for packages, retreats and VIP events.

Thankyou for reading my blog and for supporting Mindset and Me
